Observational Horizon Drawings, 2020
These landscapes are an example of my observational work. Originally a series of 8, these drawings highlight my attention to colour. Whilst focusing on the horizon I picked out depths of colours and noticed how the backlit sun highlighted and shadowed forms.
These horizons were drawn a short walk away from where I live, tucked away in the countryside. Recently living so far removed has seemed like a benefit in terms of avoiding a deadly virus, however growing up I certainly did not see it that way. Recently I am inspired by the organic and wholesomeness of nature and everyday life. I like to find small joys and humour in my daily life and this does not change for my art.
